What’s In My Photography Bag

What’s In My Photography Bag?

I believe whole heartedly that what’s in your photography bag doesn’t define what kind of photographer you are. Owning the fanciest, most expensive equipment won’t make you the best photographer around. And having less expensive equipment doesn’t make you a less than photographer. YOU define what kind of photographer you are! Knowing how to use the equipment you have to its fullest and understanding light, posing, client experience, marketing, and business is what makes your photography business grow and flourish. That’s what makes you a great photographer. The difference between less expensive equipment and the high end stuff is often less striking than you would think. Remember, “your camera doesn’t take good photos.” You do. You are the one that tells your camera and equipment everything. It’s just good at following your direction!

What’s in my photography bag varies depending on if I am shooting an outdoor portrait session, an indoor studio session, or a newborn session. Remember that every family/newborn/and portrait photographer has different styles, and therefore, different content in their bag. It depends on shooting style, and lens and body preference.

During the past six years as a photographer, I have tried different camera bodies, numerous different lenses, and countless accessories. I have used Canon, Sigma, Tamron, and Sony brand equipment. Having explored lots of options, I have found a photography bag that I LOVE and works wonderfully for me and my style! I suggest that if you are looking into different equipment, rent or borrow different brands and options to get a feel for what you love!
