Where to Print Your Photos for Quality & Accurate Colors

WHERE TO PRINT YOUR PHOTOS FOR QUALITY & ACCURATE COLORS

It’s happened to the best of us. We’re in a pinch and need some of our photos printed quickly, so we take them to Walmart or Walgreens and get them done in a jiffy. Then we pick them up, and they look …. different. Not only do they look different, they look oversaturated, orangey, and definitely not like the beautiful digital photos you just received.

Let me tell you a story. Once, back before I was a photographer, I was in a rush and wanted to get my wedding invite photos printed and mailed off rather quickly. We didn’t have a lot of money, so I was trying to get the best deal around. I had my wedding invites printed at Walmart. When they were finished, and I saw them, I was speechless. They were terrible. The colors were not accurate at all, and the images did not look anything like the digital files. My husband and I would have been so sad to have sent those out to family and friends. We had just received stunning photos back from our photographer from our engagement session, and had paid a lot of money for said photos!

In the end, I asked Walmart for my money back and we got our invites printed at mpix.com.  They came back looking just like my digital files from my photographer and were BEAUTIFUL!

Please learn from me, and don’t make the mistake of printing your beautiful photos with a less than great printer.

RETAIL STORES AREN’T THE BEST OPTION FOR PRINTING PROFESSIONAL PHOTOS.

Now, I’m definitely not trying to bash Walmart and other retail stores who offer print services. Those stores are wonderful for so many things. But the reality is, they are not the right place to get professional photos printed. As of now, they do not have the correct printers and color adjusting techniques needed in order to print photos with color accuracy and quality. If you just need a quick personal photo printed – and color accuracy and quality aren’t very important – then Walmart or another store may be a good choice for you. But when you just invested a good amount of money on professional photos with a photographer whose editing style you love, printing your photos with a good printer is super important!
